Dear all,

I'm excited to greet you all to the class on the Viking expansion in the West. The class will consist of two parts:

1:10 hour of a lecture (+ two shorter breaks in between the sessions);
20 minutes of discussion.

The lecture consists of three blocks with shorter 5–7-minute breaks between them (that is if you're watching it during the class on October 5th from 9:15 to 11:00; if you're watching it beforehand, manage your time as you please).

In the discussion, you will be assigned into one three groups to summarise the Viking expansion in one of the regions mentioned in the lecture. Then we will all reunite in one Zoom room, each group will briefly present their conclusions, and we will briefly summarise the results of the expansion the West.

The videos (you will need to click the link, it will open then on the GU play website), classwork instructions, and slides (never mind the last slide) have been uploaded in the corresponding module. If you get the time to skim through the questions for classwork and slides before the class, that will expedite your in-group discussion.
