Important information!
Hi and very welcome to the course HE2233: Adaptation to Global Environmental Change! As you all probably have already learned, the Swedish government has recommended all Swedish Universities to stop all courses on campus and instead provide them as on-line courses. The GU vice-chancellor has decided to follow this recommendation, starting Thursday 26th of March. As course coordinators, we are now working hard to transform the original course into an online-course. This is of course a challenge and we will all have to work together to learn how to best use the different digital tools we have have at our disposal.
As a principle, we will follow the orginal schedule for the course, but with the difference that the format of the scheduled lectures, seminars, workshops and supervision sessions will change. We will as soon as possible start publishing information on Canvas regarding the format that will be used for the different lectures, seminars etc.
While course coordinators and lecturers work to get the new version of the course in place, we want you to familiarize yourself with Zoom,the software we plan to use for online-lectures and seminars. We will also use Zoom for first event of the course on Thursday 26th of March, 13 - 15: the introduction. You can use Zoom directly via your web browser, but then a number of potentially important functions becomes unavailable. So please make sure to download Zoom as an app on your computer and/or phone. You can do this using this link at the student portal: https://studentportal.gu.se/english/e-services/zoom/?languageId=100001&skipSSOCheck=true.
You find the link and meeting-ID for the introduction on 26th of March under the headline "Welcome" above. You will be able to connect to the meeting from 13.00, but the introduction will not start until 13.15. Please connect in good time so that you are sure that everything is working. If you have not used Zoom before: please arrange a test-meeting to so see how it works. There are also plenty of tutorials online.
