Course syllabus

Hello: there seems to be some confusion regarding the recorded lectures I mentioned in my mails before. Please go to the Modules (inside you have the tasks) and not directly to the tasks. There you will find the recorded lectures. The introduction to Economic History is there and not in the task. You'll find several videos for this first lecture but it's only ONE, the others are identical. The reason is that I had to re upload several times because it did not seem to work and now I don't want to eliminate because I don't know which is the one you are able to see. Also ALL the parts of International relations of Latin America (Take home exam 5-6 and tasks 8-10) have also recorded lectures PLEASE watch them! it will facilitate your work with the readings! They may be repeated but there is only one for relations with the West and Russia and another for relations with China. And please DON*T FORGET  the CIA documentaries for relations Latin America-US, they are 3 videos for them. i hope this clarifies more this issue of the videofilms.
Greetings
Edmé

Welcome

Welcome to the 2nd part of LA 1112:

Hello everybody: sorry for this late welcome message, I've been extremely busy with the finishing-grading of other parallel courses that I also convene and I had not sent a proper message of welcome to all of you. I'm very happy to convene this course in which you will all be able to learn a lot on Latin American economic history and international relations. As you are aware for the first part this is a reading course where you need to read a lot and reflect on what you can use of these readings to make a good analysis in the tasks you are given. But this is not about copying and pasting, its about understanding and reflecting. As you know there are deadlines and I'm strict with them, nothing coming afterwards is accepted. I'll reopen the tasks some time afterwards and in any case there will deadlines for re-submitting for all parts of the course up to mid or end February. I'll come back on that. So please, DO NOT send me any tasks by email, late or on time I DON'T accept any tasks that are not properly uploaded to Canvas, Please read carefully the instructions to the tasks and in case of doubt you are welcome to ask but PLEASE DO IDENTIFY which course you are speaking about and try to send your message through Canvas. The grading of task 11 will be somehow delayed because of the final grading of the courses I'm also involved in. I apologize for this delay.
Greetings
Edmé

The course is held between August 31 2020 - January 17 2021

This course does not demand any real or 'virtual meetings' but its based on tasks all students are given to solve within a deadline. These tasks will be published from next week but not all at a time. The course is divided in two sub-courses: The historical part and the economic history + international relations one. Ruy Blanes is the responsible for the first part (history) and Edmé Dominguez for the second one (economic history and international relations). Please notice that  all issues (and all the tasks) referring to the first part must be referred to Ruy Blanes and the communication must be in English, Spanish or Portuguese. In the same way, all issues referring to the second part must be sent to Edmé and the communication may be either in English or Swedish.

Thank you for taking notice of this and welcome!

Edmé and Ruy
